Girl Scout Troop 6652‏ earns 'Feed the Hungry' Patch

Girl Scout troop 6652 collected food to donate as part of a project to earn their "Feed the Hungry" Patch. The girls met, pooled their collection together and then will donate the food to folks in need this holiday season.

Unclaimed Property Auction on eBay Starts this week

Treasurer Fitzgerald encourages shoppers to bid on Treasures State Treasurer Michael L. Fitzgerald is hosting Iowa's first unclaimed property eBay auction which began on November 26. "If you are still looking for a unique gift after you have done your Black Friday shopping, check out our eBay auction" Fitzgerald encouraged. "Many items are one of a kind or collectibles that were turned over in unclaimed safe deposit boxes held by financial institutions.

AmeriCorps NCCC Welcomes New Staff Member

By: Rachel Lebeaux Krista Eichhorst is originally from Mankato, Minnesota but currently resides in Vinton. She received her bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Beloit College in 2009. After graduation Krista served two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) member and VISTA Leader with the Minnesota Literacy Council, providing volunteer and VISTA member recruitment, training, and support.

Jillian graduated from Air Force Academy High School in 2006 and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Four Elected to Benton County Extension Council

Four Benton County residents were elected to the Benton County Extension Council in the Nov. 6 general election. They are Paul Bierschenk, 2678 68th St. Newhall, Jim Bruce, 5415 33rd Ave. Dr. Center Point, Nancy Jensen, 1544 75th St. Luzerne and Deb Miller 1727 53rd St., Mount Auburn. The current member of the council who was re-elected to a four-year term is Nancy Jensen.

  Name: Deanna Golab   Hometown: Middletown, Conn.   Deanna is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Hickory 3 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in NCCC FEMA Corps because she loves helping people and experiencing new things.   Deanna graduated from Portland High School in 2007 and the University of Rhode Island in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a minor in communications.

Moses graduated from Ukiah High School in 2006 and attended San Diego State University where he studied philosophy.
